First, watch this. Hugely controversial film recently shown on Channel 4. Then read this. Geez.
As a substitute to late-night TV, I have discovered the virtues of Google Video when it comes to storing brilliant BBC documentaries. Some of my recent favourites:
- Adam Curtis’s controversial yet brilliant four-hour long The Century of the Self (part 1 2 3 4)
- Another Adam Curtis masterpiece, equally controversial and brilliant: The Power of Nightmares (part 1 2 (oddly enough, I can’t find the link at the moment) 3)
- Omaar Rageh Inside Tehran – a nice 90-minute tour of modern-day Tehran with all its contrasts, so different from the usual Western coverage.
- Jonathan Miller’s Brief History of Disbelief – simply brilliant.
