I only met U?adzimer in Prague once, a few weeks before the tragic road accident happened that put him into coma last year. He passed away several days ago. While I only spent a couple of hours with him, Jeremy and Ollie in a nice Prague restaurant (of course pondering the Internet in Eastern Europe and the CIS), he struck me as an extremely kind, sharp and admirable man. May he rest in peace. As an inspiration to so many people not just in Belarus, many memories of him will live on.

A friend of mine and I were just talking about the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan – and he showed me this comic which I think sums up quite nicely certain people’s attitude over a war that is more and more frequently been fought by ethnic minorities and those living on the margins of our societies.
